One of the easiest beginner friendly house plants is a snake plant. Here's exactly what you need to know to care for it!

How much sunlight does it need?

Snake plants love indirect light. In fact, most houseplants in general do well with this type of lighting.
Aim for at least 6 hours of bright indirect light for the best results!
Just like with the pink princess philodendron, it's important you rotate your snake plant every couple of days. This lets your plant get sunlight on all the leaves not just a few.
Watering snake plants
Like most house plants, my suggestion would be to bottom water your snake plant by soaking it in a bowl of water every 2 weeks. For smaller plants with not a lot of root development, you can go once every 10 days.
Best soil for snake plants
The best type of soil for your new snake plant should be a chunky mix of orchid bark and potting soil. I like a 50-50 ratio as it provides good drainage and lets the roots spread out.
FAQ
Yes, snake plants are very easy to propagate. You take a cutting from one of the leaves. Many people like to cut an inverted v before placing in water but it will also grow roots from a straight across cut.
As a good rule of thumb, I like to wipe down all my house plants' leaves once a month. This gets rid of any dirt and allows you to check your plants for any types of pests.
If you have cats in your home, please note that if ingested a snake plant can make your cat sick. Try to keep it out of reach or in an area of your home that your cat doesn't go in.
