Popular Houseplant Care
The essentials for growing houseplants that add charm and beauty to your home!
Monstera Deliciosa
One of the more trending houseplants you will see all over social media are the Monstera Deliciosas! Just make sure to give them space to climb with a moss pole for larger leaves.
Pink Princess Philodendron
Probably one of the prettiest pink and green variegated plants is the pink princess philodendron.
Snake Plant
Known for the tall striped leaves, these snake plants are another beginner favorite! Just make sure to rotate every couple of days so that all the leaves are getting adequate light.
Aloe Vera
Probably one of the easiest plants to grow is an aloe vera. This succulent is forgiving especially if you are just starting out.
Phaleonopsis Orchid
Orchids are epiphytes which means instead of growing in soil, they grow on other surfaces most notably bark on trees in the wild. With their extravagant blooms, this houseplant is always a knock-out!

A more overlooked houseplant are the ZZ plants. With different varieties, these plants are known for their indestructible nature!
Houseplant tips
Here’s a quick look at some tips for your houseplants.
The Art of Repotting: When & How
Repotting isn’t just about a bigger pot. It’s about fresh nutrients and root health. We recommend repotting once you start seeing roots growing out of the drainage holes in the bottom of your pot.
- Choose a pot only 1-2 inches larger than the current one.
- Use a high-quality potting mix tailored to your plant type (e.g., airy mix for Aroids). I personally like a 50-50 mix of orchid bark and tropical potting soil for most houseplants with the exception of succulents like aloe vera.
- Gently loosen the root ball before placing in the new home.
- This is also the time to look for corms in the soil which you can place in sphagnum moss to encourage these little baby plants to grow. Or transplant the baby plants into new pots (depening on the plant).
Propagation 101: Growing New Plants for Free
Turn one plant into many! Whether it’s water propagation for monsteras or snake Plants, we show you how to multiply your collection or create gifts for friends.
Key tip: Always ensure your cutting has at least one “node”—that small bump where roots and leaves emerge.
Seasonal Shifts: Adjusting for Winter & Summer
Your plants have a biological clock. In winter, growth slows, light levels drop, and humidity plummets. In summer, they crave more water and protection from harsh direct sun rays. Learn how to adjust your schedule to keep them happy year-round.
Common Houseplant Problems & their solutions
Follow the steps to find out why your plant is acting up
Overwatering/underwatering
Do some of your plants’ leaves curl (underwatering) or turn yellow (signs of root rot and Chlorosis caused by overwatering)?
Pests
Look for tiny white webs (spider mites) or sticky residue (scale/aphids). Check the undersides of leaves too!
Inadequate Lighting
Is your plant “reaching” for the window (leggy growth)? Or are there brown burn spots (too much direct sun)?
Right Kind of Pot
Always use a pot with good drainage holes and keep an eye on when you start to notice roots growing out of these as this is a common sign it’s time to repot your houseplant!
